Summertime, what a glorious time of the year!
Golden, pristine beaches and sunny weather await you this summer in the Yucatan.
In the summer, Progreso is the main getaway for Yucatecans and tourists alike.
Most of the Yucatecan families own a beach house down in Progreso. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to spend their weekends at the beach and enjoy the summertime Yucatecan style!
Located just half an hour North of Merida, the port city offers the modern conveniences of any average city while still maintaining it’s small town laid back charm.
Cool breezes and clean, calm waters with no undertow.
In Yucatan summer is quite unique because we have what we call "Temporada".
Along the malecon, seaside boulevard, there are handicraft vendors, hotels and fresh seafood restaurants.
Several restaurants also have service right on the beach under tikis. Buses leave from downtown Merida to Progreso and back daily.
The coastal town of Progreso is a vibrant city full of Mexican charm.
It’s no wonder that both Mexicans and tourist enjoy getting away from it all and heading to Progreso beach.
There is no shortage of activities while visiting this small city. In addition to the many water related activities such as fishing, kayaking, wakeboarding and scuba diving; Progreso offers many other attractions.
You can climb the Faro, lighthouse and take in the beautiful view of the gulf. Browse the handicrafts and local produce in the outdoor market.
Take your pick of any of the many fresh seafood restaurants that line the malecon, seaside boulevard.
Additionally there are a few other seaside towns North of Merida; Celestun, Chicxulub, Sisal and Chelem just to name a few.
