Spanish Class Details

Our goal is to help you communicate in Spanish. There are four areas of communication: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In our program we consider all four areas.

Our standard Spanish program has eight levels: Beginner, Beginner/Intermediate, Low Intermediate, Intermediate, High Intermediate, Advanced, Superior and Distinguished. Upon arrival you will be given a placement exam to ensure you and the other classmates are placed in the right level. You can always take our Sample Placement Exam (The result of this exam is approximate) to give you and idea which level you may be placed in.

3 weeks is the ideal time to complete one of our eight levels. Our courses are intensive 6-hours a day. Four of which are in a class and two are spent with a conversation tutor in real-life experiences.

You will receive as part of your course a Textbook, a Workbook to accompany your textbook, a Verb-conjugation book (5,000 verbs), and a Spanish Encyclopedic Dictionary.

  • Morning Classes are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Afternoon Conversation Classes are from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM
    (one student/one instructor)

Morning Class:

In the morning you will cover 3 different components of the language. You will have one hour a day of Spanish Grammar, one hour a day of Spanish Vocabulary and practice, one hour a day of Interactive Lab, and the last hour of the morning class will rotate between Spanish reading, pronunciation, culture, composition, etc.

Afternoon Conversation Class:

In the afternoon you will have one-on-one hands on practice using the grammar and vocabulary you are learning in the program as you practice with a Conversation Guide. The Conversation Guide is a Native Speaker who will escort you to places of interest and correct your Spanish. You will be given a list of all the places of interest of Merida. Places within walking distance.

Academic Credits

After completing one full level (and upon request) you will receive a Course Detail description and an Official Transcript. Students attending the 3-week course earn 4 credit hours; Students attending the 4-week course earn 6 credit hours.
